'Bound' in THISS (The Hide Installation and Sculpture Showcase), as part of Site Festival, June 2025.
Compostable bio material (food waste bags), household textiles, vegetable dyes from kitchen waste, water miscible paints, soil, silk, seeds and leaves of native edible plants that flourish in loamy clayey soil.
Thinking about my ancestors who lived in this area, and attempting to capture a sense of yearning. The work is made on a textile skeleton, based on a map of the area and thinking of the custom of beating the bounds, passing on the memory of these paths through generations. Bio material sections are coloured with kitchen waste and soil from my own garden and that of my sister's. Seeds and leaves of native edible plants that grow well in this area are embedded in the work: cowslips, wild carrot, sheep's sorrel, wild strawberries, wild garlic and nettles.
